Audit & Assurance
Audit
Though often a statutory requirement, we view an audit as an opportunity to understand how your business works in fine detail. This can produce insights and recommendations to improve your company’s performance. We discuss any problems and opportunities with you and help you to implement any agreed solutions.
Our experienced audit and assurance staff have in-depth knowledge of the auditing standards and the relevant disclosure requirements.
Certain organisations are subject to regulation that requires them to undergo specialist audit and assurance reviews. We are able to offer the following services to ensure you remain compliant with your sector’s regulations.
- Statutory audits required for medium sized companies and corporate members of medium sized groups
- Charities and not-for-profit sector – Audit and independent examinations
- Academies, Independent schools and the education sector – Audit
- Solicitors’ Regulation Authority Accounts Rules – Accountants’ reports
- Residential lettings – ARLA – Accountant’s Report
Assurance
The majority of businesses do not require a statutory audit. Accounts for smaller businesses are however still required to be prepared annually and submitted to Companies House and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
Where an audit is not a legal requirement, but the business owner wants to ensure the reader of the accounts is confident that financial statements are credible and have been prepared thoroughly and accurately, an assurance engagement can be undertaken.
Assurance engagements are carried out in accordance with international standards and the guidance of our professional body, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. The work done falls short of a full audit but provides the owner of the business and the users of the accounts reassurance that the information in the accounts is reliable and any risks have been mitigated.
